Letter: Ken Weetch obituary
Roger Howard writes: Truly inspirational, he left me with a lifelong interest in economic and social history
The obituary of Ken Weetch details his contribution to both education and politics, as Labour MP for Ipswich.
In the early 1960s he was my history teacher at Mayfield boys school in Ilford, then in Essex. Truly inspirational, he left me with a lifelong interest in economic and social history. I recall him waxing lyrical about the impact of Turnip Townshend’s crop rotation system on Britain’s agricultural revolution.
No wonder that he went on to represent the county town of such an agricultural region as Suffolk.
