Gianluigi Donnarumma Nighmarish howler allowed Havert’s equaliser. Redemption – a little – came in the second period with point-blank save from the same player. 4

Matheus Nunes Had a quiet afternoon due to Eberechi Eze’s impotency, underlined by the Englishman’s removal. 6

Abdukodir Khusanov Havertz hoped to bully him and the young centre-back rode his luck when shoulder to shoulder with the German close to City’s area. 6

Marc Guéhi Calm when required, header from Khusanov cross went into Raya’s hands. Looked for a defence-splitting pass. 7

Nico O’Reilly Excellent. Foraging runs from left-back went wide or inside, his technical ability was a plus and cleared off line too. 7

Rodri Odd mis-hit pass but often doused danger and lifted a ball on to Semenyo’s toes. Crucial run helped create Haaland’s winner. 7

Bernardo Silva Buzzed about, committed a sly foul or three, nearly ran in to score and shepherded Havertz as last man. 7

Antoine Semenyo Slipped when galloping on to Haaland’s pass and was clumsy too along the right. Touch, when in, let him down. 5

Rayan Cherki Hit a post, ceded ball, then wow: bedazzled defence to score the finest individual goal this season – given the stakes. 8

Jérémy Doku Flitted from left wing to inside, twisted Ødegaard’s blood and generally had Mosquera where he wanted: on toast. 6

Erling Haaland Forced a Raya error, then overhit a through ball to Semenyo, but after grazing a post was lethal – as he stayed humble, and scored. 8

Arsenal

David Raya Shaky. Nearly allowed Haaland a goal in the opening seconds via a howler, punted a ball straight out but could do nothing about Norwegian’s winner. 5

Cristhian Mosquera Missed a header from a corner, was booked for persistent fouling on Doku, and struggled with trickery of the Belgian. 5

William Saliba Troubled when looking for an out ball and passing from midfield could also be awry. 6

Gabriel Magalhães Cherki destroyed him for the opener then he lost Haaland for the winner. Escaped a red card for pushing head into the Norwegian’s. 3

Piero Hincapié Sprayed a cross straight out, made a sliding block on a Semenyo piledriver but was fooled by Rodri’s run for Haaland’s goal. 5

Martín Zubimendi A disappointment. Patrolled the space in front of the rearguard but was unable to impose himself on the game. 5

Martin Ødegaard Captain, back after two games out, showed a vision and willingness to drop back to initiate attacks. 7

Noni Madueke Was nutmegged by O’Reilly but his directness off both feet kept City’s defence alert. Subbed at half-time. 5

Declan Rice Anonymous. The No 8 tried to step on Rodri when possible but went missing all afternoon. 4

Eberechi Eze In an unfamiliar left-wing berth, his playacting looked to claim fouls, but was pickpocketed near goal to let in Doku. Hit a post. 5

Kai Havertz Selected ahead of Gyökeres, tenacity earned him leveller and wanted a red card for Khusanov challenge. Might have scored a second. 7
