Real Madrid to launch €150m bid for Michael Olise if Florentino Pérez re-elected
Real Madrid will launch a €150m bid for Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise if Florentino Pérez wins re-election as the club’s president
Real Madrid will launch a €150m (£130m) bid for Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise if Florentino Pérez wins re-election as the club’s president.
The election is being held this weekend and Pérez is expected to beat his rival candidate Enrique Riquelme, whose promise to sign Erling Haaland has prompted a threat of legal action from Manchester City.
There have been promises of big action from both candidates. Pérez addressed the Spanish media on Thursday and revealed plans to please Madrid fans with a huge bid for a gálactico-level player next week. Pérez denied that he was talking about Olise but it is understood that the Bayern winger is exactly who Madrid intend to pursue this summer.
Although sources added that there is also interest from Madrid in the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder João Neves, Pérez is expected to focus on a move for Olise if he retains the presidency.
The former Crystal Palace winger, who is set to be a key player for France at the World Cup, has been exceptional for Bayern since moving to Germany in 2024. He has helped Vincent Kompany’s side to two Bundesliga titles and has announced himself as one of the best attackers in the world.
Bayern will not want to lose Olise, whose contract runs until 2029, and will put up a big fight to keep him away from Madrid. José Mourinho, whose return as Madrid’s manager will be finalised if Pérez is elected, signalled his intent by watching Olise when the German champions beat VfB Stuttgart in last month’s German Cup final. Uli Hoeness, Bayern’s honorary president, responded by saying that Olise is “unsellable.”
Madrid are set for a big summer after two years without a trophy. They have already arranged deals to sign Ibrahima Konaté on a free transfer and the Netherlands defender Denzel Dumfries from Inter.
