Corrections and clarifications
Fahrenheit conversions | Lewis and Harris
• Editing errors meant a rise in temperature of 6C was converted to 43F, which is equivalent to an absolute temperature of 6C, not to a change of 6C; the correct figure is 10.8F (The unfolding catastrophe you haven’t even heard of, 23 April, Journal, p1). Also, we said most fish or seafood destined to be eaten raw or lightly cooked “has to be frozen at -20C (68F)”. The fahrenheit conversion should have been -4F; a figure of 68F equates to 20C, about room temperature (Help! There’s a cockroach in my coffee, 18 April, Saturday magazine, p16).
• Harris in the Outer Hebrides is not itself an island but part of the island of Lewis and Harris (Blooming Scotland, 18 April, Saturday magazine, p72).
