Corrections and clarifications
Footlights | Ali G
• Due to an editing error, a feature said the Edinburgh University group Footlights was a source of the Fringe’s student comedic talent. In fact, this Footlights is a musical theatre group, and the intended reference was to the Cambridge University society of the same name, that established a tradition of performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (‘This used to be a place to mess around’, 20 August, G2, p6).
• Sacha Baron Cohen’s character Ali G debuted in 1998, not 20 years ago (Diary, 29 August, p39).
