Jane Hoskyn tried out popular sleep aids, and said, “I woke up in joyous disbelief at the nine (yes, nine!) hours of shut-eye I’d achieved” while testing this mask. It’s also handy for helping you get some sleep on a long journey or for taking on holiday, where you may fall victim to a cheap blind that lets in the light.

La Gioiosa rosé sparkling can, 20cl

This Italian sparkling wine is “dry, fruity and floral, with plenty of prosecco-esque flavours: apples and light berries abound”, wrote Joanne Gould in her roundup of the best tinned drinks. “It’s perfect for an aperitif or for enjoying with charcuterie, and at a fairly relaxed 10.5%, it’s very quaffable.”

Pop it in a G&T or a negroni and sip it in the sun.

Gould rated this mezcal, which “has bags of tropical fruit flavours and notes of ginger and cinnamon that give it a lingering fiery finish”, highly. She tested 40 different tequilas and mezcals and awarded this one the title of best smoky mezcal. She recommends mixing it with fresh pineapple juice.

She rated this the best budget option, thanks to it being “affordable, easily controllable and relatively simple to store as a result of its fold-up legs, it gets all the basics right”.
Spear & Jackson bypass secateurs
