Great Japanese Railway Journeys

A Shinkansen bullet train hurtles Michael Portillo to the “mega metropolis” of Tokyo. Mint

9pm, BBC One
Charlotte Regan’s Romeo and Juliet remix set amid warring crime families in Scotland is earthy, formally inventive and – crucially – deeply heartfelt. Virgin Island

9pm, Channel 4

Exploitative TV that encourages viewers to gawp at people’s sexual problems? Or a groundbreaking attempt to help those with intimacy issues? This reality show blurs the line as it returns for a second season of young adults undressing and having “therapies” that involve being sexually stimulated on camera. Not for the easily shocked. Alexi Duggins

Euphoria

9pm, Sky Atlantic
Weddings bring out plenty of drama and Cassie and Nate’s nuptials are no exception – it’s a great opportunity to bring the gang back together for a set-piece event. Backstabbing, gossip and generally appalling behaviour are the order of the day as family and friends find themselves on a collision course. PH

Rooster

10pm, Sky One
Good news for fans of Steve Carell’s campus comedy: it has been renewed for a second season. But flailing author Greg still has to navigate the rest of the semester as writer-in-residence. His lecturer daughter, Katie, remains in an emotional funk while student Tommy wants to drop out. GV
