A candid chat between the ‘hardest working man’ in rock and Zoe Ball. Plus, how will it end for DS Lucey in Blackshore? Here’s what to watch this evening

Phil Collins: Eras – In Conversation

11.30pm, BBC Two

Zoe Ball spends half an hour talking to the musician she claims was once “the hardest working man” in rock. Their chat is a quiet armchair-bound affair, featuring voice notes from the likes of Robert Plant and Genesis bandmate Mike Rutherford, as well as archive gig footage. One big revelation is that Collins now has a 24-hour live-in nurse, following kidney and knee problems that led to him spending months in hospital. Will he ever perform again? He doesn’t seem convinced. Alexi Duggins

Gladiators

5.45pm, BBC One

There are 11 challenges in rotation, including recent addition Destruction (a headlong, wall-smashing delight). But surely everyone’s favourite is Duel, AKA The One With the Big Cotton Buds? It’s on the menu this week as four more competitors battle against the Gladiators. Graeme Virtue

Michael McIntyre’s Big Show

6.45pm, BBC One

The cheerful comic’s old-school mix of entertainment and stunts is fulfilling its brief well this year, providing enough viral moments to last the week. Likely to fuel more here is Frank Skinner subjecting himself to Remember Me, where a non-famous punter is revealed as a figure from his past. Jack Seale

The Masked Singer

7pm, ITV1

Despite her rousing rendition of As Long As He Needs Me, Monkey Business – AKA Kate Nash – is out of the competition, along with Arctic Fox/Anton Du Beke after a unique take on Woman in Love. Six contestants are left – but which two will “take it off” this week? HR

Waiting for the Out

9.20pm, BBC One

Prison philosophy teacher Dan (Josh Finan) is spiralling – so much so that his obsession about leaving the gas stove on might be about to ruin his whole life. On top of this, he continues to battle painful memories of his father and has difficult questions for his mother. The penultimate episode of Dennis Kelly’s fine drama. HR

Blackshore

9.20pm, BBC Four

The premise (a detective returns to their home town to solve crimes and fight personal demons) isn’t particularly original. But this gritty thriller has been compelling. In the penultimate episode, the Blackwater whiskey festival is here and the case appears closed. But DS Lucey (Lisa Dwan) fears there’s more to the story. Phil Harrison

Film choice

Afire, 11pm, BBC Four

The second in German director Christian Petzold’s series of films based on the four elements, this brooding 2023 tale uses the threat of a forest fire to concentrate the mind of its protagonist. Self-centred author Leon (Thomas Schubert) visits the holiday home of his photographer friend Felix (Langston Uibel) to work quietly on his book. However, Paula Beer’s Nadja is already staying there, and with Felix hooking up with local lifeguard Devid (Enno Trebs), the immature Leon reacts badly. But does he actually need these real-life dramas to create great fiction? Simon Wardell
